Dr Supraja N – specialist

She completed her MD anaesthesia from JIPMER Puducherry in the year 2007. She worked in reputed private hospital in Chennai for 9 years and then as freelancer in Tirunelveli before joining ESICH, Tirunelveli. Her areas of interest are critical care, Obstetrics anaesthesia, CPR training and Medical law & ethics.

2. Brief introduction of department and services provided

The department of anaesthesia is providing its services with diligence and due care in all areas of the hospital with special attention to preoperative, post-operative patients and patients who are critically ill. ESIC Tirunelveli being a 100 bedded hospital receives mostly patients who require secondary surgical care that includes general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric surgery, orthopedics, ENT, ophthalmology and Surgical oncology. Anaesthesia department manages 4 OTs- Surgery, orthopedics, OG , septic OT, six bedded ICU, six bedded HDU and CSSD.

3. Services provided by the Department of Anaesthesia and critical care

• Elective OT – 4
• Round the clock OT service for patients requiring emergency surgery
• Intensive Care Unit
• Pre-anaesthetic check up clinic (PAC)
• Post op care unit 6 bedded (HDU)
• Peripheral calls for resuscitation
• Pain management of oncology and orthopedic patients.
• Overlooking functions of the CSSD department that caters to the entire hospital.
• Overlooking the function of Gas manifold and LMO facility.

4. Location of the services being provided

• 2 nd floor- 1 modular OT – OBSTERICS AND GYNECOLOGY
• 3^RD floor 2 modular OTs – general surgery, orthopedics, ENT and surgical oncology
• Ground floor – septic OT
• Post op recovery/ HDU – 6 bedded
• Intensive care unit- 6 bedded
• Pre anaesthetic check up clinic including pain clinic – in 3^rd floor OT complex.
• Casualty and ward- peripheral calls for resuscitation
• CSSD department – 3^rd floor
• Gas manifold and LMO tank- ground floor
