Introduction of the Department

The department of OBG caters to women from Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kovilpatti, sankaran Kovil, tiruchendur, nagarkovil, Kanyakumari , and tenkasi. Comprehensive care of women is provided at ESICH, Tirunelveli, with wide range of services starting from OPD services, preconceptional counselling, antenatal care, intrapartum care, delivery and post natal services , including contraceptions.  Gynecological services include medical and surgical management of benign conditions such as fibroid, ovarian tumors, minimal invasive procedures, urogynec   services, infertility services, MTP services, family planning procedures.

Services provided by the Department

OBSTETRICS

Preconception, antenatal care, intrapartum and postnatal care including contraceptive care is provided for women including pregnancies with dm, ht, thyroid, epilepsy complicating pregnancy

BENIGN GYNAECOLOGY:

Management of abnormal uterine bleeding medical management including mirena and surgical management with option of laparoscopic hysterectomy as well as open procedures, benign ovarian cysts.evaluation, management  of primary and secondary amenorrhoea, endometriosis adenomysosis, management of urogynaecological disorders.

FAMILY PLANNING

Contraceptive options both nonhormonal and hormonal and iucd are available  abortion services upto 12 weeks both mtop and stop, puerperal sterilisation, interval sterilisation  are provided.

INFERTILITY

Initial evaluation and management of subfertily along with screening for tubal factors is provided in the form of hormone evaluation and laparoscopic chromopertubation,  induction of ovulation with oral ovulogens.

ONCOLOGY

HPV vaccination is provided for young children from 9 year to 14 years, postnatal   women & women are at  high risk  along with screening  all women for cancer cervix including liquid-based cytology, viavilli, breast cancer, ovarian and endometrial cancer along with diagnosis medical and surgical  management of all gynaecological cancers.
