Introduction of the Department
1. Physical therapy or physiotherapy is concerned with identifying and maximizing quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation and rehabilitation.
2. Physiotherapists provide services that develop, maintain and restore people’s maximum movement and functional ability. They can help people at any stage of life, when movement and function are threatened by ageing, injury, diseases, disorders, conditions or environmental factors.
3. Physiotherapists help people maximize their quality of life, looking at physical, psychological, emotional and social wellbeing. They work in the health spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, and rehabilitation.
Services Provided by the Department
1. Providing high standard of physiotherapy service to the patients including advanced &specialized work with patients having various musculo- skeletal, cardio pulmonary, neurological &geriatric conditions.
2. Providing positive caring environment to both out- patients and in- patients in which patient can expect a high quality physiotherapy service.
3. Formulating, developing & delivering individualized treatment programs based on manual assessment, evidence based practice, appropriate clinical reasoning there by managing physiotherapy referrals from various departments as well as pre & post surgical cases.
4. Having effective communication and liasing with other members of health care delivery team for the effective & successful rehabilitation program.
5. Participating in the department audit, appropriate work- related research projects in the areas relevant to the field
6. Educating the patients about their conditions, significance of self care procedures and effective management techniques
7. Participating in the various health awareness camps as well as maintaining the equipment registers & medical records pertaining to the department.

Occupational therapy is a skilled treatment method that helps clients become independent and successful in their everyday occupations. It enables the patients to lead a more productive, satisfying and independent life. Purposeful activities are used as treatment modalities in the rehabilitation of clients.
Occupational therapists focus on motor and cognitive development,
* Achieving independence in ADL (activities of daily living), Hand function training,
* Vocational rehabilitation, Use of assistive and adaptive devices, and Environmental modifications.
Occupational therapists work with a pediatric, orthopaedic, neurologic, geriatric and psychiatric population.
